Air Conditioning Filters

The air conditioner seems to run like clockwork. It seems to require very little care and maintenance and simply hums along happily keeping the home cool and comfortable. This is completely wrong but unfortunately reflects the attitude of most home owners. The air conditioner does need to be checked and maintained regularly. It needs to be cleaned and various parts need to be checked.

One such part is the Air conditioning filters. The filters provide quite a valuable service to the people in the house as well as the air conditioner itself. The Air conditioning filters help to remove dust, pollen and other debris from the air. The more that is taken from the air around us the less gets ingested into our lungs. Those that suffer from allergies or asthma will be especially appreciative of this fact.

The air conditioning filters also protect the inner moving parts of the machine. The filters keep that same dust, dirty and pollen from entering into the mechanics of the Air conditioner. This helps it to run well and keeps the moving parts moving along.

Air conditioning filters do need to be checked and changed. The filters will eventually get filled to a point where they can contain no more debris. When this happens they need to be cleaned out and ideally changed with a new one. Once the air-conditioning filter is full of dust and other particles, it looses the ability to protect the machine. The debris will continue to build up until it gets into the air conditioner itself. This can cause the machine to run less efficiently and eventually break down. Sometimes the air conditioner gets so clogged that it needs to be replaced.

Replacement air conditioner filters are quite easy to find. They are available in most appliance and home improvement stores. Finding the correct Air conditioning filter is simply a matter of checking the manufacturer’s recommendation. Kenmore and the Hepa filters are some of the most common and well known.

Unfortunately, most of people don’t give their air conditioners any attention until they break down. To keep them running smoothly a little checking and maintenance is required. By simply checking the air conditioning filters, cleaning and changing them when needed, the air conditioner should run efficiently with very few problems.
